Audio Recording tutorial #01 with DJ Bolivia – Basic Recording

This video isn’t about DJ’ing … it’s about basic audio recording. I filmed this as a very simple introduction to studio technology. I’ll be doing about a d…

This video is a theory video. I talk about how various decibel measurement systems work. This video won’t be as fun as some of the hands-on stuff that I teac…

Good god what a difference! Excellent tutorial, I’ve been totally immersed
in what you’ve had to say and show. Great video and have now subscribed :).
Thank you for sharing and taking the time to do this.?

He sounds like Rob Crow from Pinback!?

Canadians need to learn the word about?

thanks for sharing so much knowledge πŸ™‚ i already knew quite a bit about
recording but still, it’s cool to watch someone who has experience with the
music business do it πŸ™‚ and btw, i really prefer your cover over the
original version of the song. although i really dig pearl jam ;)?

This is GREAT! Thank you for sharing your knowledge so willingly. ?

Awesome video. I learn so much information to help me! I will be watching
more to learn more to help me with my recordings! Thanks for doing this!?

That’s understandable. I haven’t finished watching this all the way
through. It takes me about 5 days to watch one of these lol. Not
complaining though, I prefer in-depth, longer videos. Really looking
forward to the production tutorials.

Thank you. I feel that this one could have been a lot better, but I was
doing it with limited equipment while on vacation. I’ve got some big plans
for future videos in this series, and in the two DJ’ing and Ableton series.

No problem. I’ll be working on this over the next 24 hours to add more
annotations, and a bunch of useful links in the video description to sites
that will enhance what I’m talking about.

I have a question, if they havent been answered in other videos and in case
its useful to answer them. The first is that, I record always mono on my
microphone but would like to get a stereo signal so that? the effects
applied to the waveform are stereo. In Audion there is an option to turn
mono into stereo but I haven’t found this option in ableton, is it possible
to do?

i am a dj/producer,,,and there are a lot of people who are like “please
teach me” or “how do i get this thing done”…the only answer i have for
them is “GO. Subscribe to DJBolivia on youtube” πŸ˜€ you are just awesome
man…great tutorials…all my doubts regarding DJing, doing a radio set,
recording…whatever, have been cleared..i have seen each and every video
of yours…and it is just great,,,,the amount of work that you put into
your videos is awesome πŸ™‚ good luck..cheers !!

Ah sweet, you’re here. Yeah it’s great to know How to record. But what if
you want to make it sound timeless?

Most helpful tutorial I have found. Using your guidance, I’m going to
record my first original track. Thanks a ton!

Thank you Ashish. I promise I’ll get some better musicians and singers for
most of these Audio Recording tutorials!

Yeah, that’s going to take about thirty tutorials in total. But I’ll get
there!

Thanks so much, Vikrant! Two months from now, I’ll be back in my studio and
producing videos again for five months straight.

Thanks for this and all your videos they are helping me learn a lot to do
my own recordings and also DJ. In spite of having not much practice I think
your type of voice doesn’t sound bad at all when you sing specially because
of your uncommon high register in my opinion. I dont know if its right to
think this but, I guess the lower frequencies persist more time in space
(and reverb more time) and for? that reason they had to be cut more than
the higher frequencies in the EQ

Yes, I’m actually working on a video like that right now. I should have it
online in about two weeks, three at the very most. Specifically designed
for DJ’ing in live venues using Ableton.

Thanks πŸ™‚ I’m going to have several more videos in this Audio Recording
series online within the next 7-10 days.

How audio engineers able to sense the little bit difference in db,is there
any way for us to improve the sense of hearing??

Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video and explain this
concept so clearly. Best tutorial I’ve ever seen on the subject. I feel
like I actually understand this now. I really appreciate this!!!?

thanks jon! im studying sound engineering and your videos are a great help,
they are fully reinforcing what im learning at school, going though all of
them! subbed! your great!?

Thank you for this great video! Very thorough and easy to follow. I learned
a lot and realized I didn’t really fully understand this topic until I
watch your video. Looking forward to watching all your others.?

Thank you for putting this out there…very helpful.?

Please keep sharing such great knowledge of yours.?

The best tutorial and the best teacher I have ever seen. So thorough …?

That’s very good. Well done!?

So since there is no way to convert between the analog measurements and the
digital measurements, how can I measure the decibels that are coming out of
my speakers? Would you need a dB meter of some sort?

This video was out of this world!!! Are you sure you’re not an alien??? lol
Seriously, though… Very useful stuff! Thanks a lot!!! Cheers.

Love it. But who else would catch that reference?

Yes, exactly. I have one, I totally forgot about that. I should have done a
demo in the video. Maybe good for one of the later videos.

This videos helps A LOT!! thank you!! It matters everything is car audio.
