. Why should students attend CMPS instead of internationally known colleges and audio institutes?

This curriculum took over 13 years to develop and we have been teaching for over 7 years now.

There are many ‘idealistic’ ways that sound great on paper but they don’t work out. Just about every mistake you can make I think I have made it on my personal journey.  You could say I have been running a ‘development test’ for the past 7 years personally and professionally.

But everything in the course and that has been taught is from personal experience. The course is a ‘realistic’ education on living your music dream.

Like I said before certifications, colleges and audio institutes all have their place. But because of new technology there has been a new demand on music education.

The course itself went through 3 revisions just trying to help clients and students get a solution that worked:

1)      We started with in studio classroom style training. Everyone requested hands on training and having someone help them every step of the way. I found that it didn’t work. 50% of that information gets lost in translation and that hands on training is not sitting in a studio or fiddling with knobs and faders. Hands on training is when you’re alone, using your own equipment and you have to get radio ready music on a deadline.

This solution didn’t have as good of results as I’d thought. Everyone requested hands on training and being in the studio but the problem was it was the information wasn’t staying in their long term memory and the cost kept adding up.

2)      This led to the 2nd version of the curriculum which had students learning from their home studios and doing phone and internet training. This sped up the learning process but still wasn’t giving students what they needed. At that time, 8-10 solid hours were booked a day and that schedule didn’t allow for growth and further curriculum development.  Students were more or less dictating what ‘they thought’ they needed but I kept noticing that the results weren’t adding up.The information still wasn’t staying in their long term memory and the cost was less than in studio classroom training but it kept adding up past the results.

3)      This led to the 3rd version which also change the title and a new website to the Computer Music Production School at https://www.computerproducer.com//u.
From over 13 years experience with recording, playing music, in bands, 6-7 years of running a recording studio and doing workshops and at that time 4 years of training experience, I was able to write a curriculum that truly gave students what they were looking for.. Students were ‘getting it’. Getting radio ready results, understanding the learning process, it wasn’t taking too long and

So to sum it up from experience, the result of these versions I found students need more of a personal and customized road map of how they can move forward doing music as a business. A vision that fits into their life, something that is affordable where they can get their own equipment and also help with marketing, promotion and developing their business.

I’ve found there is no ‘one size that fits all’ for music education. Each student has specific questions, concerns, goals, connections and talents that require personal mentoring and life coaching to get where they want to go. Every person’s goal is different. However, the ingredients needed for success are the same and can be narrowed down to 3 things:

1) Radio ready music that is done quickly and professionally.
2) An understanding of business. How to become an entrepreneur and independent contractor when getting into the music industry.
3) Branding: If you are not a ‘valuable package’, why would someone want to work with you?

Because of technology anyone can become a music producer but not everyone can finish. This is the key to being not only in the music business but any business for that matter.

These are some of the questions our 7 Lesson Course: Becoming a Music Producer and Audio Engineer answers in an affordable and unique solution on a realistic approach to getting into the music business as a professional.
