I am guilty of doing exactly what this article claims. I recently did some 'spring cleaning' on the harddrive of my mv. I think i deleted at least 20 unfinished beats and samples that sounded great in my head, but fizzled once I captured them. I actually discovered my problem before I read this tutorial on production flow. Now, I just work on one beat from start to end, even if it means taking a break from the project for a few days. All in all, this article diagnoses the problem and provides a great solution.

I'm a writer as well as an artist.

These same concepts apply to virtually any kind of creative art, not just beats.

Though I will tell you what is a constant show stopper for everyone: Getting obsessed with perfecting something. Ultimately if you are trying to make a living on creative arts, it's about production. Sure in your early stages you want to aim for complete pieces to challenge yourself. But sometimes people get so obsessed with creating that perfect picture, that perfect beat, that they don't push on and move on to new things when they should.

So also know when to move on.
