What are the classes like?
Our courses are made of up lessons. Each lesson can be taken in a week, a month or as long as you need.
1. You read over the lesson and ask questions to your student adviser as you go.
2. Each lesson's homework includes reading from the course textbook and unique assignments dedicated to what you are learning in the specific lesson. Homework ranges from ear training, outboard gear, plugins, sound design, mixing, mastering and more.
For example, in the mixing lesson, you'll mix two tracks of your own and one track as you would in a client situation. If the quality is not on point or it takes too long, you'll receive additional homework. Also, you cannot move to the next lesson until the previous lesson is completed.
3. If you are inspired at two in the morning, if you are out of town and have your laptop and lesson with you, if you are out of the country or just visiting relatives, you can do your course lessons at any time of day or night.
4. You receive 24/7 email support and can setup a training consultation with your student adviser at any time.
Do I need a PC or MAC?
If you grew up with a PC, stay on a PC. If a Mac, stay on a Mac. Today, regardless of opinion, all systems are equally powerful. All computer systems have bugs, glitches and issues; if it’s a computer, it will break, malfunction or glitch.
In choosing a platform, it’s better to stick with what you are familiar with as you have plenty to learn already.
Adding a new platform can complicate the process of your music education. We have had students jump ship before or during the music course and it set them back six months up to a year.
When your business is profitable and operating smoothly we recommend experimenting with cross platforms / other systems. Until then, stick with what you know and stay focused on your music, not the gear.
Will I get Hands on Training?
Yes.. and better yet, you'll receive 24/7 hands on training.
Hands on training is not sitting in a studio, behind a console or operating gear tweaking knobs or fiddling with faders. Hands on training is when you are alone working on a track while meeting a deadline.
We offer hands on training that is proven to be the most effective to get all this information in your long term memory. Everything is about knowledge. Only by having the knowledge and experience of all the tools involved can you know what to do once you get into the studio, what to listen for and how to know a project is complete.
