November 27, 2014 at 11:56 pmThe problem I have with this is how do you know a riff is going to work if
the sound depends on digital delay and other effects to work ?
What if the riff NEEDS delay or other effects like distortion to make the
raw sound ??

November 27, 2014 at 11:56 pmRE20 is a sick, high-quality mic? HAHAHAHA it’s crap. It’s a dynamic that
sounds like a blanket is over it.?

November 28, 2014 at 12:44 amThis has been my exact problem. I’m fairly ADHD prone, and it’s super
evident in my music production. Thank you so much for sharing this!?

November 28, 2014 at 1:28 amI agree it is faster and often more effective. But I think once you have
truly mastered your writing style you should be able to conceive the entire
song from start to finish, writing all voices at once, not from a top down
structure. Top down structure is effective but can become like a formula or
sound somewhat forced. You should become so accustomed with the way you
structure songs that you don;t need a top down structure. Then your music
can be really organic and free. ?

November 28, 2014 at 3:03 amThis guy is not a song writer or composer—he’s a sound designer/engineer.
Hardly any mention of melody, harmony, rhythm, form—only sounds.?

other without stumbling.?

November 28, 2014 at 4:33 amonly problem is when you don’t want your entire song to be a layout of
selected aspects of one drop loop.?

November 28, 2014 at 8:24 amWell since you asked.
Thanks for the video I really agree. I had this problem a lot when I made
music years ago and i’m just starting to get into it again now. Having you
define and explain this really helped me visualize how I should be
approaching composition and realize one of the main problems to my process.
I WAS getting too caught up a single sound halfway through arrangement etc.
So thanks.?

November 28, 2014 at 8:59 amI’ve been learning a lot of things lately, video production, music
production, computer programming, etc. What I’ve found crazy is they’re
almost all related in the way you organize and complete projects. So this
video isn’t just about being organized while producing music but being
organized and structured in doing any large projects 😀 Amazing?

November 28, 2014 at 9:03 amVery useful information, thanks! But the title is misleading. Your video is
not about writing music at all. It is about editing, mixing and mastering.?

November 28, 2014 at 9:38 amInteresting…
My workflow has always been something along the lines of this:
1. Sound design/sampling
2.Structuring
3. Texturing (This is where I will riddle small samples, effects, and drum
breaks throughout the track to spice it up.)
4. EQing
5. Mastering
Some tracks will take me days because the track may have a lot of layering
and depth or it could take me a couple of hours.?

November 28, 2014 at 10:27 amNice n clear, good job man.
To note, let the creative energy flow. If that means getting creative with
reverb or automation as part of sound design go for it. But as you’ve
explained, being clear which stage you’re in is vital to maintaining flow
to the finished piece. ?
