Tutorial: Pro Tools for Beginners 2: Aux Tracks and Bussing, Recording to Audio Track.

This is part 2 of my Pro Tools for beginners series. In this tutorial I go through the following topics by exploring a composition of my own. 1) Auxillary Channels and Bussing for effects…

Comments:

which one are you using, LE or Essentials ?

@pattyisbamf are you literate? or were you very high when you wrote this?

HEY HOW’S GOIN? IM USING M POWERED 8 PRO TOOLS. THE FISRT TIME IT WORKD
WELL IN BOUNCE 2 DISK BUT NOW WHEN I EXPORT THE FILE, AND PLAY THE WINDOW
PLAYER ASKS 4 CODEC DONT WAT THE HEG THAT S. ANY ADVICE?

Hello mic1one, I just have a quick question, when i try to bus multiple
plug ins like EQ, COMP, Desser, and Reverb on one AUX mono track, it does
not seem work the same versus adding each plug in on each track. Any
suggestion? I would really appreciated.

yeah you can make busses for cymbals, back up vocals, overdubs its very
handy.

riskycbk: From what I know EQ,COMP, DESSER chain must be used as an INSERT
so the whole signal will go trough it . Reverb, delay you may use as SEND on
AUX tracks…This may be the reason why it sounds different to you…

how u change ur vocie ? example like when u sing or rap and ur vocie is not
that gud u know how to mix ur vocie ?

That was a really good video thanks man.

is the AUX track equal to the FX track in Cubase?

Is this going to be the same information as using Pro Tools 9? I’ve never
worked with this program before. But I’m going to probably start with PT9.

@pattyisbamf where are your tutorials?

no I don’t work for digi, but I wouldn’t turn down a job from them =)

‘Protools sucks, my pc keeps on crashing!’ Verry recognisable! HAHA…
Thanx for this verry good lesson…

Nice Tutorial…..I do have a question….I am a little confused….so
basically what you were doing at the end there was taking everything and
mixing it down to one track w/o bouncing…….SO U CAN DO THAT WITH VOCALS
AS WELL?? EX. If I stacked the main vocal 2 or three times…once I mix it
how i want it….I can combine those 2 or 3 tracks into one w/o having to
bounce them down? I have been doing this the hard way for a long
time….Trying to conserve tracks

I never mastered the song. But the mastering engineer would probably do
something like this. EQ—–>Compress——>exciter or
widener———->limiter————->dither. Sometimes they rearrage the
order depending on the source material. But really mastering takes years to
get right…. the same goes for mixing, but I would never discourage anyone
from trying to learn it on their own. Get Bob Katz book, “Mastering Audio”.
Theres a great deal to be learned from that book.

This is one of the most important things for a beginner:) I remember when
I’ve been doing the same mistakes until I’ve found that SEND channel in
Cubase SX…No one told me about it before so that kind of tutorials are
very helpful indeed!

@refuse2bstopped This might be caused if you have a condenser microphone
that someone sings to close to it and spits all over it. The saliva creates
short circuits inside of it making the recording to come in and out.
Installing a pop filter and singing farther my fix this problem after
letting the mic dry.

GOOD Information!!!!…. THANKS!!!
